Investigating the function of genes associated with MS in collaboration with Stephen Sawcer A major theme of multiple sclerosis research in Cambridge is understanding the genetics of the disease.  Stephen Sawcer and Alastair Compston have led this work (their website is here), as part of International Multiple Sclerosis Genetics Consortium and the Wellcome Trust Case Control Consortium. These collaborations have led to the latest list of genes associated with multiple sclerosis which is reproduced, in an interactive way, here. From this list of genes associated with multiple sclerosis, we have chosen three implicated immunological pathways to study further. Our approach is to do functional immunological assays on normal healthy people of informative genotype, from the Cambridge Bioresource.
